Don Mescal has been DJing for more than 20 years now. Inspired by folkloric multiculturalism, he loves to experiment with the traditions of world music. He knows how to transfer those traditions into a modern perspective to brew an electronic music elixir with that extra drop of Mescal flavor. His unique musical voyage combines a well-selected myriad of styles from Folktronica, Rub-a-Dub, Jungle & Tribal with a joyfully flamboyant vibe.
Don is also the co-founder of Cosmovision Records, a new music label / collective created by a mix of immigrants from Latin America, Europe, & locals from Canada, based in Montréal, working together as a multi-cultural, multi-disciplined artistic platform. Mescal has toured around the world over the past years. He gets crowds dancing in clubs & festivals such as Boomtown (UK), Burning Man (USA), Piknik Electronik.
Various - This is Dubtempo is a 40 track compilation curated by Don Mescal. It is a groundbreaking compilation that pushes the boundaries of sound. In this visionary project, the timeless essence of Dub reggae fuses seamlessly with the cutting-edge world of downtempo.

Note: All of you familiar with my personal brand of psychosis have probably figured out by now that for next month all the shares will be prompted by the compilations I'm sharing this month. I'm going to try to select one artist from each comp to share something from their catalogue. If anyone wants to reply at any time with your requested artist share, I will try to share those as well (or just those Frenz choices, should the entire world flip upside down & there were magickally enough requests, I could skip or pair with mine)..
I've already received two requests from Frenz of NSS Diego & FlaccusMUC for Thomas Leer & Robert Rental - The Bridge & something more from Climax Golden Twins, which I now have on deck. I just sez...
The spice of life,
NØ
This is Dubtempo

That's the brand of psychosis I like. Looking forward to what's coming. Many thanks and best wishes.
ReplyDeleteGotcha covered, brother. Take care.
DeleteJust when you think you're out, they pull you back in...I thought i was all VA'd out, bud, until i read today's post, but this looks irresistable.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this fits with this month's theme - nae bother if it doesn't - but did those Assassins Of God boys ever go on to other things after the band split? I'd sure like to hear more in that vein.
Seems like vocalist, guitarist, & main songwriter Kenny Kearney dropped out of music after AOG. Drummer Bruce Ducheneaux lived in S.F. & drummed for Gary Floyd Band for quite a while as well as Black Kali Ma (shared here June 14, 2019), Bassist Maurus Fleishmann played in Hedonist (one demo tape & one CD as far as I know), Nothing from any of them like AOG.
DeleteNicely - i'll check the Black Kali Ma out. Cheers.
DeleteExcellent. Black Kali Ma is good but different from AOG by quite a bit.
DeleteMerci.RF
ReplyDeleteYou're always welcome, RF. Thanks for hanging around.
DeleteMuchas gracias amigo NØ
ReplyDeleteOnly listened to the first 4 tracks and I can tell this is going to be fantastic. Might have to reach to the back of the top shelf for that dusty bottle of Beneva Anejo and crank up the volume!!!
¡Viva la Revolución!

ReplyDeleteThanks Nø! Downtempo + dub! That's a winning combination in my book. I don't recognize ANY of the artists on this compilation, which is fabulous. Thanks!
